Why do Malaysians like to go to Bandung?
This question is directed mostly to Malaysians. Based on my observations, when Malaysians visit Indonesia, most of them will go to Bandung instead of the more popular destinations like Bali or Jogjakarta. In fact, Bandung is popular enough that one of Malaysia's largest airlines, Malaysia AirAsia, opens a direct route from KUL - BDO. As an Indonesian from Jakarta, I can understand if Jakartans like to go to Bandung - because Jakarta is over-polluted and Bandung has cool and fresh air, but that's about it. Can someone explain why Malaysians like to go to Bandung when they're traveling to Indonesia? What is so appealing about Bandung in the eyes of Malaysians? Thanks!
Thank you everyone for the insightful answers! Man! So, shopping, yeah? And here I am thinking that the best shopping in Indonesia can be done in Jakarta. What do I know, huh? :)

There are many reasons, but the main reasons are the cool WEATHER & SHOPPING. The weather in Bandung is really refreshing. So, people come here to refresh their mind after a tension days at work or to take some space of their busy days or to make an important decision(in a calm & cooling place). Bandung is well known for shopping as well, because of its cheap price,for the famous batik, clothes, beauty products & traditional medicines.
Since 'mind refreshing & shopping' are something common for a human, that's why Bandung is being the place that we visit the most, compared with other places, even though Air Asia has a direct route to Bali & Yogyakarta.
Other reasons are:
-friendly people, especially Sundanese, they are so friendly, polite & helpful
-free from disaster (especially Tsunami & earth quakes)
-cheaper living & traveling cost
-has ex-volcanic place (e.g Tangkuban Perahu)
-beautiful natural scene (e.g Ciwidey, Lembang, Hot Springs,etc)
-delicious traditional food

Yes...many Malaysians (especially LADIES) love to visit bandung...main purpose is SHOPPING for their low price fabrics garments wedding items etc....me, not yet..maybe next year :)

Yang pertama tama, pasti kerna di bandung punya toko toko yang gede gede menjual segala macam produk pada harga murah murah gitu, nah yang ini ni sudah jelas jelas diketahui umum di Malaysia. Pokoknya mau apa kek semuanya pada versatil & bisa dibeli dengan gampang lagi murah. Terus, biarpun seharian mundar mandir di daerah pertokohan, kita ngak rasa capek kerna faktor hawa di bandung yang dingin segar itu. Lagian makanan di Bandung juga enak2.
