Why is it OK for men to show their bare chest but not for women?

Okay, so it's been universally established that we should cover our genitals for modesty, and that goes for both sexes. However, when was it established that it is socially acceptable for men to show their bare chest but it isn't socially acceptable for women? In this age of emancipation, isn't that considered a double standard? What's the story or reason behind this? Thanks!

That's a good question. Why can't we (men) also see women topless?? As much as we love to see women topless, we become uncontrolably lustful (if that is a word). We cannot stop looking, and for women, it will become very irritating AND uncomfortable!

So i guess its in our nature. Men have nothing to hide; women have beauty.

they are no longer reproductive organs, yet they play an element in intercourse. Breasts characterize that a girl is sexually mature, and a few evolutionary biologists have faith that human women have breasts even till now they have borne a newborn simply by fact breasts mimic the buttocks, which additionally play an element in intercourse. as properly, in some cultures, this is worry-loose for women to bypass topless at beaches, swimming pools, and so on. We individuals are strangely puritanical approximately nudity. notwithstanding, that mentioned, i certainly does no longer get exhilaration from going topless in public simply by fact I choose my breasts suitable constrained. while they're bouncing and shifting, it may certainly get incredibly uncomfortable.

Here's one theory. Because in Western civilization, which is responsible for the culture, sexual overtones that pervade our views of nudity slant perversely out of proportion to the female. Women's sexual allure has somewhat been tied to the curves hips and breasts create, and letting breasts on a woman just dangle willy nilly would create the intellectual equivalent of The Great Depression because men can't be held responsible for their learned response to sexual stimuli.

In Europe it's often ok for women to go topless, I guess it just depends on the country. I mean, in Saudi Arabia women can't even show their faces!

In alot of medieval European art, the woman's breasts are bare, it wasn't considered rude, even alot of pictures of virgin Mary have her topless.

and to the person who says women don't get sexually aroused as much as men - nonsense! maybe you just make your girlfriends feel frigid!

There is a lot of difference in man's and a woman's lust, a male lust is far more than a female's.

I personally wont be able to stand bare beautiful breasts i admit, but a lady would just be attracted to a bare male chest, a woman sees different beauty in attraction for her love is more of taken care with all the requirements fulfiilled but for a male it's just sex..

Uh, because women don't get sexually aroused as easy or as fast as men. And no one wants to see a bunch of men walk around with a hardon's! And this is comming from a guys point of view.

Seriously, I'm so fat I swear I've got bigger boobs than pamela Anderson and no one wants to see them when I parade around.
