I don't think they'd be the grooms of christ because gay marriage isn't allowed in the catholic church. Nuns are called the brides of christ, but how about the men?

Priests are Jesus's representatives on earth. And no, that doesn't mean the have sex with nuns.
Besides which, the marriage is metaphorical, and comes from a time when proper women were expected to be married.
