Although statistics is mathematical and as such objective, the assessment of statistical analysis is subjective. The evidence of ESP is largely stats.
The government asked two scientists - a Univ of Calif professor of statistics and a Univ of Oregon psychologist - to evaluate the results of the CIA's controversial remote-viewing program Project Stargate. These two came to entirely different conclusions.
In 1995, Stargate was the subject of an ABC Nightline report (YouTube). Ted Koppel interviewed a former CIA director, a CIA technical consultant, and a scientist associated with the project. These three agreed that, while the Stargate findings were interesting from a strictly academic point of view, they were not reliable enough to justify continuing the project. The scientist mentioned a "modest" amount of success psychics have had in law enforcement.

Maybe if ESP could be demonstrated it could be explained by science. The fact is, it's never been shown to exist.
